Update in info to your post, Debi:  Now the NeoVac D is available.  http://www.atozvetsupply.com/NeoVac-D-p/169-neovacd.htm

With all the back and forth about vaccines, I grew SO weary reading when people would just default to "well Purevac is the only approved vaccine, thus the only one to consider using!"

I went back to Galaxy after Ferrvac was discontinued because I couldn't get Purevac.  And from what my vet tells me about Merial, I was never confident in a) the reaction rates for the Purevac, but more importantly b) the availability!!!  So when I couldn't get Galaxy off I went in search of something else.  I am very concerned about not truly knowing how much protection the NeoVac D is offering our ferrets, but clearly Purevac didn't protect those it was supposed to already, so...?

Sorry, those of you who ignored the conversation before by planting your flag "Purevac is the only approved vaccine!"  Out of production for a YEAR?  Good grief.

[PurevaxD has not been discontinued, I contacted Merial. There is a shortage at the moment, but it has not been out of production for a year. Having titers tested as already recommended is the best option if people are concerned whether their ferrets have immunity.

A number of ferret expert vets have already posted (i.e., Mitchell, Heller, Murray)warnings against using NeoVacD. It is not prudent to ignore these warnings by veterinary professionals! The default position should not be to use a vaccine that the experts are advising against using.- Moderator (TD)].
