Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: ferret vomiting, nausea, known IBD - need advice now please
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Dook had a good, quiet night and I gave him the Pepcid this AM. He only vomited once yesterday afternoon after the carafate. The rest of the night he indicated nausea but kept the food down. Sorry if that was confusing. He is well hydrated as I put a lot of water in the babyfood as he was and is hungry. He kept the Pepcid down this morning and fed him His appetite is good and he kept the food down.
To the moderator -- Cerenia was given to me by my vet for my ferrets. I do not own any other animals and there is no concentration on the bottle. I give it by mouth and I have used it for about a year and a half. I have used it for ferrets that had end stage insulinoma and for Dook and it works very well for them. I have seen no outward ill effects from it. As for the Pred, I usually give .05 and taper very slowly. It seems to work well for him. I will call the vet tomorrow and ask for the Flagyl. Dook takes it without a problem believe it or not.
I have had ferrets for a dozen years and have been through ECE probably ten years ago and made it through without losing anyone. I was a little panicky at midnight on a Saturday and just need a little guidance and suggestions from the list. Thanks for your help!
Trish
