Subject: [ferrethealth] microchip location in ferrets

My humane society will now be microchipping shelter ferrets. I'm trying to get a consensus of ferret folk as to the best placement. Traditionally, clinics implant id chips between the shoulder blades of animals. However, between the shoulder blades of ferrets is a busy place with other implants(eg melatonin), site of injections, subQ fluids etc. Is there a better placement for ferrets? With the scanners we use to check, I run the whole ferret through the ring when checking a lost ferret.
