Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Sedation for deslorelin implant?
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

I'm gonna weigh in here...

Although my vet has sent the official letter and coordinated the Suprelorin implant with the Australian company, I've always paid for the deslelorin up front; with shipping, it works out to around $50-60 a dose, if I'm remembering correctly. Since I'm bringing the product, he does the implant for me for free. (Yes, I love my vet.).

I have never sedated a ferret for the implant and truthfully see no reason to. It's similar to a microchip implant. Sometimes there's a little blood, but it's a momentary discomfort and it passes. Distraction works just fine.
