Subject: [ferrethealth] Reticulocyte count of 1 - what am I to expect please
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi, please help, my ferret has been sick for 2 months now, was 1st thought to be Helicobacter & ulcers causing anaemia ( 17% PCV ). Have since had an ultrasound and further bloods done. results - Large spleen but otherwise looks normal, enlarged lymph gland next to one of the adrenals but adrenals look normal and reticulocyte count of 1. The vet tells me that the prognosis is very bad but what am I likely to expect with regards to symptoms ? She is not suffering at the moment although sleeping almost all the time but seems content. She is eating plenty of duck soup and pooh is good. I don't want to wait until she is suffering to have her put to sleep but don't want to end her strange but contented life too early ?

Thank you - Julie
