The IBD could very well be linked directly to stress, as you mention, but it may not just be the emotional stress that you describe as a trigger. His insulinoma could play more of a factor than you realize. When he has episodes of low blood glucose, it can be causing a lot more stress and affecting his IBD more than you might think. I recently made this connection with my older girl, Baby Girl. She started having bad diarrhea and also had some ulcers forming.

SheĆ¢'s adrenal, but has been effectively treated for that for a long time now with deslorelin and melatonin. What I found out is that she now also has insulinoma. As soon as she started on prednisolone for the insulinoma, everything about her quickly got better. Her ulcers have healed up quickly (with amoxicillin and carafate) and her digestive system is doing well again. Her over all energy level is also much better than it's been for a long time. So, my point is, if you get his insulinoma meds adjusted, with vet approval, to a point where he's not having any type of seizure, and where his BG level is consistently at 80 or higher, then his IBD may also show much improvement. And, perhaps the nightmares may also dissipate...

As for side effects of proglycem (diazoxide), I've never personally seen any, and I've used it for 4 ferrets at various times.
