Ferrets imprint on the food they receive the first 4 months of life. After that they don't recognize new foods as food. This does not mean they can't be switched, its just a bit more challenging. I generally find if you can mix enough of the old food that the new food smells like the old, then they may 'accidentally' eat a new food kibble and realize "Hey, its food."

Other option as Caitlyn has suggested, is to try different mixes.
