Subject: [ferrethealth] Can a tumor be partially removed? Large tumor on belly but connnected to sheath
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have this 6-7 year old DEW male who grew this mass on his belly rather quickly. I got him back from an adoption last fall. He was thin and had this mass. The vet is very concerned about trying to remove as it is intertwined within the penis muscles.

We have been monitoring this for the 6 months he has been with me.

I have a ferret "specialist" vet I am thinking of taking him to just to see if it can be partially removed so he is no dragging this thing around. My vet knows her limits and doesn't want to chance ruining his sheath or penis or the muscles so he cannot urinate.

I put photos under Sammys Clubhouse. His name is Pez. As the mass grows it appears to stretch the skin. He also gets what appears to be rug burns. All we are able to do for him right now is topical ointments.

It is almost the size of a golf ball.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Other then the large mass, he is doing rather well. Gained weight back quickly with me - she was running out of the food he will eat.

I don't have a problem with having him PTS but want to explore all options first.

Thank you
