Prostate problems are NOT something to be taken lightly. They can escalate quickly and result in a blockage that can kill him in a matter of hours. The melatonin is clearly not helping enough on its own. You mentioned a Deslorelin implant, and that seems to be what would be needed at this advanced stage, in addition to another melatonin implant (every 3-4 months).
It's unfortunate that the family cannot afford the Deslorelin implant, yet they also don't want to give the ferret to someone who can afford the proper treatment. That sounds like selfishness to me, not love. I would tell them to either find a way to pay for treatment the adrenal tumors, or allow someone else to have the ferret and give him the proper treatment. NOT treating adrenal disease is cruel, and as I mentioned, now that the prostate is involved, it could kill him.
Since you adopted the ferret to these people, I would assume that you have the option of taking him back, as most adoption contracts allow. I'm sure that you can talk to them a little less bluntly than I've communicated in this post and tell them that they must find a way to treat him, and give you proof of treatment, or you will be forced to take him back.
