My adrenal guy began having pooping issues when I missed a couple of luprons (long story, beside the point). He never had trouble peeing but was doing more and more straining and his poops would be very small.

The vet wasn't really sure it was his prostate because it didn't feel so big on palpation. But I couldn't wait til his surgery and 2 wks before we did more lupron (good thing because his R adrenal was ugly and she didn't want to mess with it). She also gave me a script for flutamide (which my human pharmacy was able to get in). It's fast acting so was for in case he blocked before the lupron kicked in. I never wound up using it but was glad to have it on hand just in case.

Now he's back on monthly Lupron and his poops are back to normal.   Not sure if it was the prostate itself or the cyst that was causing the problem. Even when she examined it at surgery vet thought it didn't seem big enough to cause as much trouble as he was having.  But there was nothing else to explain it.
